Here’s some helpful hints on where to find and evaluate used go karts.
Where to find used go karts:
Depending on where you live, finding used go karts can be extremely easy or a little more challenging. If you are looking for an all-around multipurpose go kart and one of the first places to look would be garage sales and flea markets. Many pawn shops have a great selection of used go karts. We recommend first doing your homework online often times you will find the best deals for used go karts is places like eBay or Amazon.
If you are looking for higher performance used go kart and one of the first places to stop by is your nearest track many times drivers will be selling their older used go karts at a fantastic price. Sometimes tracks will sell their retired rental used go karts to the general public but I would caution most of the time if you can find these machines for sale they are pretty worn out or on their last legs.
Let your fingers do the dialing, before you go out and drive all over town looking for used go kart pick up the phone and call the tracks, pawn shops and motorcycle stores to see what they may have in stock. I’ve been to some places that had over 25 used go karts at a time and other times made long drives for no reason whatsoever. Don’t waste your hard earned money and time driving to pawn shop after pawn shop hoping to find a used go kart when you could have just called first.
How to buy a used go kart. Do not overpay for used go kart, a used go kart selling at even 50% of its original value may not be all that great of a deal these machines require a great deal of love and care to run smoothly. Many times the bargain hunter will try and save money by buying the cheapest used go kart they can find only to get home and discover it needs new tires, a new clutch, upgraded brakes and engine overhaul all toll costing way more than it would to have bought a brand-new go kart in the 1st place. We are not saying “don’t buy a used go kart” but we are saying make sure you get value for the money and make sure that you don’t turn around and spend all the money you save by buying a used go kart into getting it running again.
How to evaluate a used go kart. When it comes to buying a used go kart you typically don’t have a lot of time or resources available to you to evaluate it, however there are a few rules that you should live by in every situation. Never buy a used go kart at last they allow you to start it up and take it for a test drive. If the used go kart does not start right up and perform admirably, look elsewhere. Along those same lines if you are evaluating a used go kart and it does not have ample braking power, look elsewhere. Make sure the clutch is in good working order. Tires are not such a big deal you can easily replace tires, but in the engine, brakes were clutch even if they just need to be overhauled can get quite expensive. Don’t be in a rush to buy your next used go kart evaluate all your options and find one that is right for you and fits in your budget.
